September 12-16

We are a month into school already! So sorry to have missed posting the last few weeks. I had to be out of town for a death in the family and then we had the Great Flood come our way! Thank you all for your patience! This past week was a wonderful one in our class, even though it was cut short. We studied the letter M and had a lovely Moose Party, complete with miniature muffins. We even wrote a class book!

Here is an outline of what we will be studying next week:
· Discuss the Reading Question: How do machines help people to work?
· Read Dig, Dig, Digging and Things That Go
· Comprehension skill: classify and categorize
· Letter Focus: T
· Math Topic: Numbers 1-5
· Read Five Little Ducks and Five Green and Speckled Frogs
· Discuss how things move!

We will also be making Dump Truck Cake on Friday. If you would like to send in some supplies for this project, just check the list below and shoot me an email at efoggin@clevelandcityschools.org. I will need any supplies to be sent in by Wednesday.

You should have received a newsletter in your child's folder this weekend. In it, there was a list of dates and a special request that, if possible, you send a water bottle in with your child. You do not HAVE to do this, but I am hoping to limit the amount of germs we transfer between us and I think if we didn't all have to share the water fountain, it might help.

Parents, thank you so much for your support and care! Teamwork is what will help your child succeed this year!

Making Kindergarten Work

We are three weeks into kindergarten and I couldn’t ask for a better start to the year. I am so blessed to have such wonderful students. I know many of you have put forth a huge effort to help your little ones succeed at school. The material we cover in kindergarten can be overwhelming for a student to learn if they do not have reinforcement at home. I encourage you to use this newsletter as well as our classroom blog (mrsfogginsfroggies.blogspot.com) as tools to keep you informed and up to date with what we are learning in the classroom.

Please be sure to check your child’s notebook every night. You will find student work and any correspondence from me in their folder and their behavior chart is in the daily agenda. Thank you so much for the effort you put toward making this school year positive. Your child succeeds best when we work as a team!
